10 Dance ~ How you gon do me like that?

10 Dance ~ How you gon do me like that?

How are you going to give me all this dark and sexy golden lighting and this sexy-ass, filthy, gorgeous Japanese character called Suzuki with blond hair and so much sass, so much... Not cuntiness, 'cause that feels a little bit more effeminate than he is. And then just give me raw masculine to masculine, dance pro to dance pro energy, filthy dialogue from Suzuki, electric chemistry, and then not give me a fuck scene. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. I'm not sorry, because I told you we are the channel of bottom of the barrel goodness. How are you going to sell me steamy, hot summer, characters with opposite personalities…the stiff vs the passionate one…and then not give me a fuck scene?! Are you okay Netflix?

10 dance technically delivered what was promised, which is amazing kisses between the two characters. They gave us plot, right? They gave us character development incrementally. And the actors gave us nuanced acting. They had me every single moment. But Netflix was playing my face, 'cause why are you telling me now I have to restart the whoIe show when I’m almost at the end cause your system is lagging?’ pick another struggle.

But yeah, it delivered. I would give it an eight out of 10 just because the emotions were emotioning. The chemistry was there, the sexiness of the main characters, the dancing was on point, the female characters not villainised and also layered as people.

However, I think the one thing I didn't get was how we got to their first kiss. Their first acknowledging of sexual attraction and yearning for each other leading to a kiss seemed a bit sudden, and extremely….nuanced. If you’re familiar with Japanese culture, the concept of *Aimai* , *which means "vague" or "ambiguous," often conveyed through indirect phrases or silence, which requires listeners to "read the air*. Would have helped you as a viewer fill in the gaps or rather, revisit the scenes prior to see how and why we got to the scene of Suguki, the ballroom dancer, running after Suzuki who had just boarded the train and then basically doing the whole kohaku and then kiss scene. The kiss itself was appropriately passionate, in comparison to Keita Machida’s previous BL role in ’30 years a virgin turns you into a wizard’.

Oh, another thing. I thought 10 Dance was a series, 'cause I think most of us are used to BL series. But it was a film, two hours, and I I like this because I still hate waiting for an episode each week”

Okay, so when you’re in the zone, from the beginning, you get to the middle or far into the movie when you expect to get to some action, and then they fucking stab you in the heart. Because just when you think you're gonna get chitty chitty bang bang in the hotel in Blackpool, you get emotionally destroyed and its in the best way, and then you get edged so hard with a choke scene that will be legendary forever in my mind.

I think, I’ll score it a eight out of ten, …because if they had shown us... ferocious fucking to match the general vibe of the movie, intense, sexy, bold unlike most mainstream Japanese bl, and you can fight me on that - marketing wise, it was unwise to imply there would be more than kisses. It was still steamy…I guess, just not in the way I expected while I was watching the first half of the show.  I think if they had added ferocious fucking, artistically done of course, we’re not savages -  like in ‘Heated Rivalry’, it would have propelled it higher or to where it should have been. Cohesive from start to finish.

These are my honest to God genuine opinions about 10 Dance. I really, really enjoyed it. I'll definitely watch it again. The blond character, Suzuki, played boy Ryoma Takeuchi, was super sexy and delivered on character portrayal. His counterpart, his male co-star, Suguki the stoic ballroom dancer, played by Keita Machida, also delivered - he surprised me with how fearless he came off on this project. I’m really glad I saw him in this film because in ’30 Years a Virgin Will Make You A Wizard’ , you could tell he could act but not whether he could act well. In 10 Dance, it was clear he could act act, 'cause this role required a lot of nuance, it was less about declaring oneself, and  more about letting the viewer pick up on the vibes, the *nunchi*, you know?

So yeah, it delivered. It did good. But I would have loved some fucking in there at the end 'cause I feel like the whole general vibe of the movie was leading up to that, but then it didn't deliver on that concretely. But then I feel like with the scene in the hotel at Blackpool, Suzuki, the blond character, is upset and drunk, and then basically makes some moves on Suzuki, the stoic ballroom dancer. He starts making out with him, pushes him down on the bed, straddles his hips, and Suguki, the ballroom dancer, is just lying there not moving his lips, just letting himself be ravished. And he's obviously having a little mental breakdown or something. Anyway, at one point he flips Suzuki, the blond character,  onto his back, and chokes him out a little bit. I don't know why it's sexy, but it is -  he proper chokes him out, without saying anything. They're both just there having this really intense moment and I'm having this really intense moment. I'm like, "Okay, is he gonna fuck him now?" But then he doesn't fuck him. It made me feel things.

So I would say if you're gonna watch it, watch it. You will enjoy it. But maybe at the end just pretend like they are fucking just like the characters from Heated Rivalry.
